OFF-MOUNTAIN |
| Off-mountain, or off-snow, accommodation can be a cheaper option as it’s further away and there’s less likely to be snow outside your front door in these lower altitude areas. These smaller, independently run apartments and hotels can offer a genuine budget holiday alternative and, as a general rule, off-mountain accommodation is cheaper. There are also plenty of luxury spas, suites and hotels off-mountain, for those who are looking for a little pampering after a day at the snow. Remember that if you stay off-snow, you’ll travel to and from the ski fields each day. However, that may just suit you fine – especially if you don’t intend to hit the slopes everyday. The valley towns and villages near the resorts often a have wider choice of places to eat out, more affordable shopping and a choice of bars and nightlife. But remember, the resorts are where the action happens and most of the snow nightlife is based around resort ‘après ski’ venues and events. |
