About 250km and a three-hour drive from Melbourne is Mount Buller village. The village is picturesquely located on one of the mountain slopes from which it takes its name. You’ll find plenty of ski-in/ski-out accommodation and the resort area can accommodate up to 7000 people, so there’s no shortage of lively atmosphere, fun bars, great restaurants and vibrant nightlife. There’s also a spa, cinema and plenty of shops for when you need a little downtime.
When you’re ready for action, there’s an extensive ski lift system, which accesses over 300 hectares of ski runs and trails. It’s designed to meet all levels of ability, including first-timers. The beginners’ slopes of Bourke Street and Burnt Hut Spur are popular with those strapping into their first pair of snow boots, while there’s plenty to challenge experienced skiers and snowboarders, including a half-pipe and an ultra cross course. There’s also a toboggan and snow-tubing park at snow-goers’ disposal.
